Projectile Creation / Editing General Projectile Properties

To edit a projectile type's general properties, select the General Properties tab in the Projectile Types Window. The General Properties tab contains controls for specifying several basic projectile characteristics, including the amount of damage inflicted, the types of exhaust particles and contrails emitted by a projectile, and the properties of a projectile's laser beam.

The use of each control in the General Properties tab is explained below.

Base Damage Inflicted Field

The basic amount of damage inflicted upon a character hit by the selected type of projectile

Random Damage Inflicted Field

The maximum possible random amount of damage added to the base damage inflicted upon a character hit by the selected type of projectile

Contrail Type Pop-Up Menu

Determines the type of contrail that will be emitted from the selected projectile type. The delay between contrails can be set in the Additional Properties tab. Note that laser projectiles may not emit contrails.

Exhaust Type Pop-Up Menu

The type of projectile that will be emitted from the selected projectile as exhaust. More exhaust properties can be set in the Additional Properties tab. Note that laser projectiles may not emit exhaust.

Shrapnel Type Pop-Up Menus

Up to three types of shrapnel projectiles may be released when the selected type of projectile blows up. More shrapnel properties can be set in the Additional Properties tab.

Is a Laser Checkbox

Determines whether the selected projectile type is a laser. Lasers are solid beams that can damage several characters before disappearing. Several of the properties listed in the Additional Properties tab do not apply to lasers.

Laser Thickness Field

Determines the thickness of the laser beam, as measured in pixels

Laser Length Field

Determines the length of the laser beam, as measured in pixels. A laser beam may be shortened if it hits a wall or other solid surface.

Delay Before Disappearing Field

Determines the number of ticks that must pass before the laser disappears. There are 30 ticks per second.

Disappears Gradually Checkbox

Determines whether the laser gradually shortens throughout the period of time specified in the Delay Before Disappearing field

Outer Laser Color Control

Determines the color of the outer portion of the laser. Click this box to select a new color.

Inner Laser Color Control

Determines the color of the inner portion of the laser. This applies only to lasers whose Laser Thickness is 3 or more. Click this box to select a new color.
