Hot Zones

Hot zones are invisible rectangular areas that cause routines to be performed when the player or a character enters their boundaries. Hot zones can also take the player to another level.

A hot zone can respond to the presence of either the player or a character, or both. Since hot zones may perform routines when they are triggered, they can achieve a huge variety of results. It is possible to configure a hot zone to continue to perform its routine repeatedly until the player or character has exited its perimeter. For example, for as long as the player remained in a hot zone, a health restoration routine could be continually performed.

Hot Zones can not be seen, and they are unable to be resized or destroyed. However, if a routine moves a hot zone to a distant location, the effect of disabling the hot zone may be achieved.

Hot Zones may be added to levels and manipulated as described in the Adding Level Objects and Level Object Manipulation sections.
