Managing Game Projects

Game Projects are managed using the Main Options Window. The Main Options Window is visible when no game project is open. This window lists the available game projects and provides controls for creating new game projects and deleting game projects. Additionally, the Main Options Window allows game projects to be imported for editing and exported for backup or for moving to a different computer.

The Main Options Window can be used to complete the following tasks:

Creating a new game project

To create a new game project, click the Create New Game Project button. You will be prompted to enter a name for your new game project. After naming the game project, it will be assembled from a set of default game data. When the process is finished, the game project will open, and the Levels Window will appear.

Opening a game project

The names of existing game projects are listed in the Main Options Window. To open a game project, select its name and click the Open Game Project button.

Renaming a game project

To rename an existing game project, double-click its name in the Main Options Window, and enter a new name. When you have finished, press Return.

Deleting a game project

To delete a game project, select its name in the Main Options Window and click the Delete Game Project button. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete the game project. Once a game project has been deleted, it can never be restored.

Exporting a game project

To export a game project, choose Export Game Project from the File menu. You will be prompted to select a location in which to save the exported game project. The currently selected game project will be exported as a Power Game Factory Project file, which may be moved to a different computer and later imported back into Power Game Factory. The Export Game Project command is usually available even when The Main Options Window is not visible.

Importing a game project

It is possible to import previously exported Power Game Factory Project files. Power Game Factory Project files use icons like the one pictured below.

There are several ways to import a Power Game Factory Project.

The first method is to choose Import Game Project from the File menu. You will be prompted to select a Power Game Factory Project file. (The Import Game Project command is usually available even when the Main Options Window is not visible.)

The second method is to drag a Power Game Factory Project file onto the Power Game Factory application icon.

The third method is to simply double-click a Power Game Factory Project file in the Finder.

Restoring bundled game projects

Power Game Factory comes with a collection of bundled game projects. If any of these game projects are deleted, they can be restored by choosing Restore Bundled Game Projects... from the File Menu.
